My Rating: ★★★☆☆

My Review/thoughts:

While this was a very fun and cute read, it just wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I was expecting a lot of witty and funny jokes. I was expecting this book to make me laugh and perhaps remind me of all the good times I had with my roommates when I was in my first year of university. The only instance that I found particularly funny was the list of practical pranks. That bit made me smile, if we’re being completely honest. I thought about how I SHOULD have done those pranks to my roommates, and it made me think about how I’m DEFINITELY going to do those pranks to my future roommate (a.k.a. my boyfriend, but shhh!)

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I was currently with a roommate. Unfortunately, I do not have a roommate. There were many activities in here that would have been fun if I had a roommate to try them all out with. In this sense, I was a little disappointed. I initially thought this still would have been a fun read for me, with or without a roommate. It turns out, I don’t think this book would be as satisfying if you’re someone who’s not currently (or in the nearer future) rooming with anybody.

While I was mildly disappointed by this, I did very much enjoy the art. They were all cute and fun to look at and go through. It’s safe to say they made up for the lack of witty and funny jokes that I was expecting. Here are some examples:

Hey, these are my pet peeves too! Extra points for being relatable!

I quite enjoyed this style of art. Being an artist myself, I’m always intrigued by other people’s unique style!

To be honest, I chose to include this as an example because these “Thank You” notes are a good idea not only for roommates, but for anybody in your life! They’re hilarious, and cute, and can be personalized to the extreme. Even more extra points for the idea!

Like I have mentioned, although I didn’t get what I was expecting out of this book, it was still a fun read overall. Perhaps I’ll go back to it when I’m rooming with my boyfriend. He better be prepared.
