My Rating: ★★★★★

My Review/thoughts:

There’s no arguing with me on this: this was a lot better than the second book. The Titan’s Curse was jammed pack with action AND new characters. I loved everything about this book and there was never a single dull moment for me!

Needless to say, I felt engaged with everything that was happening in this book and I felt more connected to the characters this time around. I especially loved all the new characters that were introduced (I won’t name them in fear of spoilers). I loved that we got to meet new goddesses and gods in this instalment and I’m glad said goddesses and gods played a larger role in this book than they did in the previous two books! Might I also add: the humour in this book made the lack of it on the second book totally worth it! I found myself chuckling out loud and even smiling dumbly to myself at so many parts and I was thoroughly pleased.

Another thing that impressed me about this book is the character development and growth! Both mentally and physically! It really shows that Percy and his friends have grown from all of their experiences and tribulations. I appreciated this because it added so much to my reading experience. When you feel as though you are watching the characters grow up right before your eyes (or sometimes you can even feel as though you’re growing WITH them), the book becomes more personal and the experience becomes something that will stick with you long after you’ve turned the last page.

Let’s also talk about the climax. THAT is how you do a climax. It was full of action, full of surprises, full of emotions, full of everything! My feelings were all over the place and I was pulled right in. Like I mentioned: there was never a dull moment! I was almost always on my toes because the anticipation was unreal! And although it felt like my heart was going to burst at any moment, I never wanted the book to end. It’s a good thing I have the rest of the series readily available! I think I’d go even crazier otherwise.

This instalment is by far my favourite. But I just know that this series can only get better from here. I almost don’t want to read the next one just yet because I don’t want this world and this story to end… Ever.
