My Review/thoughts:

Meet Jo, April, Mall, Molly and Ripley. These are the five rad and bad-ass main characters we are introduced to in Lumberjanes, who are all just wanting to have an amazing, butt-kicking summer experience. Together, these five are about to face a very magical adventure full of monstrous creatures, supernatural critters, quests, and more! (more…)

My Rating: ★★★★☆

My Review/thoughts:

Imagine living in a world where a sexually transmitted disease is a disease that people actually want, all because it makes those infected beautiful. In The Beauty, this disease is very much real, and it’s become a worldwide epidemic. In America alone, over half of its population is infected. Not only do people have to worry about those who purposely try to catch this disease, they now also have to worry about the negative side effects that’s proving to be far worse than any of them expected. This sexually transmitted disease is very real, and it’s called The Beauty. (more…)

My Rating: ★★★★★

My Review/thoughts:

Set in a very futuristic sci-fi drama, we are introduced to two unlikely and odd (but unforgettable) pair, Alex and Ada. In Alex and Ada’s world, robots live amongst people. Artificial Intelligence is now something that is widely common and accepted. Or is it? A robot is the last thing Alex wanted to enter his life. And Ada is about to change his entire world. (more…)

Review: Night Air by Ben Sears

Night Air by Ben Sears

My Rating: ★★★★☆

My Review/thoughts:

Set in a very clever, adventurous and futuristic world, Ben Sears introduces an odd duo in Night Air: Plus Man and his robot sidekick named Hank. After Plus Man and Hank are given a tip on where to score valuable alloy, they are determined to locate the treasure. The one thing they have to go through to get to this treasure, however, is a very haunted castle. Very reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki’s works, Night Air is full of both intriguing and mysterious characters, an elaborate world with magical elements, and a plot that leaves you wanting more. (more…)

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Set in an alternate matriarchal 1900’s Asia, in a richly imagined world of art deco-inflected steampunk, MONSTRESS tells the story of a teenage girl who is struggling to survive the trauma of war, and who shares a mysterious psychic link with a monster of tremendous power, a connection that will transform them both.

My Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5)

My Review/thoughts:

Plot
A world divided into two parts. One is the human world, and the other the arcanic world (filled with monsters and ancients and gods). Awesome. I’m sold! (more…)

Review: Snow White: A Graphic Novel by Matt Phelan

Snow White: A Graphic Novel by Matt Phelan

My Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5)

My Review/thoughts:

This graphic novel successfully retells a classic fairy tale story like I’ve never read before. The story takes place in New York in the year 1928, during the pre-Depression era where the glitz and glam of show business is apparent and booming. It is your typical Snow White story where an evil stepmother enters a young girl’s—little Snow White’s—life and makes it no more or less miserable. Except Matt Phelan has added his own twist and character to the classic Snow White that comes to life within the pages. This made my reading experience—although short—a rather enjoyable one.  (more…)

Bee & PuppyCat Vol 1 (Bee and PuppyCat)

My Rating: ★★★★☆

My Review/thoughts:

Bee & Puppycat is a cute, fun and quick graphic novel. Just think Finn and Jake from Adventure Time. Much like Finn and Jake, Bee and Puppycat do everything together. They are two best friends who basically live in a magical world. This alone screams and shouts adventure if you ask me.
