My Review/thoughts:

In light of National Poetry Day (October 6th, 2016), I made sure I was able to celebrate with a poetry book that touches heavily on survival; a poetry book that does not shy away from the topic of violence, abuse, love and loss. In Milk and Honey, Rupi Kaur grabs you by the heart, sits you down, and takes you on a journey of both the bitter and beautiful things that we are faced with in life. (more…)

Imagine living in a world where a sexually transmitted disease is a disease that people actually want, all because it makes those infected beautiful. In The Beauty, this disease is very much real, and it’s become a worldwide epidemic. In America alone, over half of its population is infected. Not only do people have to worry about those who purposely try to catch this disease, they now also have to worry about the negative side effects that’s proving to be far worse than any of them expected. Set in a very futuristic sci-fi drama, we are introduced to two unlikely and odd (but unforgettable) pair, Alex and Ada. In Alex and Ada’s world, robots live amongst people. Artificial Intelligence is now something that is widely common and accepted. Or is it? A robot is the last thing Alex wanted to enter his life. And Ada is about to change his entire world. (more…)

Before I begin my review for Detached, I first want to thank Dundurn Press for the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour. Tomorrow (September 10th, 2016) is World Suicide Prevention Day, and I am more than grateful to be able to talk about this very sensitive yet important subject right here on my blog. For those of you who already know me, you’d know that I have dealt with (and still am dealing with) mental illness first hand. For years my depression and anxiety consumed me, and I am now finally just getting comfortable with talking about it. On that note, through this blog tour for Detached, I gladly took the opportunity to speak out (more) on mental illness. My Review/thoughts:

Set in a very clever, adventurous and futuristic world, Ben Sears introduces an odd duo in Night Air: Plus Man and his robot sidekick named Hank. After Plus Man and Hank are given a tip on where to score valuable alloy, they are determined to locate the treasure. The one thing they have to go through to get to this treasure, however, is a very haunted castle. Very reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki’s works, Night Air is full of both intriguing and mysterious characters, an elaborate world with magical elements, and a plot that leaves you wanting more. (more…)
